Nitrous Oxide Protocol

You have opted to have your Endodontic Treatment performed with the use of nitrous oxide. This will help ease any anxiety you have regarding your treatment as well as allow your facial muscles to relax so the procedure is more comfortable.

You will not be unconscious for the treatment, but you should feel quite calm and comfortable.

We ask that you follow these instructions:

Do not eat solid foods or drink any fluids for a minimum of 2 hours prior to your appointment. Food in your stomach may cause vomiting during or after the procedure.

Take your usual medications with a sip of water. If you are a diabetic, taking steroids, aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medications, please discuss this with our office.

For your safety, equipment will be used to monitor your vital signs during the root canal procedure. This will include a pulse oximeter attached to your finger and a blood pressure cuff on your arm. Please remove any nail polish (artificial nails, etc.) from your fingernails on your left hand and wear a short sleeved shirt.

It is advisable that you wear loose fitting clothing to this appointment.

If you are coughing or are congested within 48 hours of your appointment, please contact our office. This may not allow us to proceed as planned.

Following treatment you will be able to resume your daily routine. You do not require a driver for this appointment.

Please note: after hours care can be acquired by calling our office at 519-579-8381 or toll free 1-800-444-9174. Be sure to leave a message including your name and contact information. Voice mail is checked until 9:00pm
